The vision for the Good Samaritan Men's Ministry is for every man to devote himself in a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Our vision reflects not what is, but what can be. We will use this vision as our guiding star, much like the shepherds did, some 2000 years ago, following until we reach Jesus. With this as our aim, all efforts will be focused towards this end. Our goal, like the shepherds, will be to focus our sight on Jesus, spread the Word and glorify and praise God.
With our eyes focused on Jesus, our hearts set towards Him, we feel the mission of this ministry enables that vision and clearly gives us a well-defined purpose.
Our mission at Good Samaritan is to develop and nurture a community of men who are continuously growing in their relationship with Jesus, pursue God and live out their God-given responsibilities in such a way as to impact their families, church, community and world with the message of Jesus Christ.
Ours is a ministry surrendered to the power and purpose of God. Its leadership is shared among many servants. In the spirit of D. L. Moody: "I’d rather get ten men to do the job than to do the job of ten men."
The Ministry is currently organized in three functional ministry areas: Events, Monthly Gatherings, and Small Groups.
- EVENTS: provide periodic opportunities for men to experience fellowship, teaching and recreational events with other Good Samaritan men, men from other churches or with their sons and daughters. Events require planning and may require travel, outings, retreats and participation in larger events.
- MONTHLY GATHERINGS: are regular times and places at Good Samaritan for men to get together with other men for friendships, teaching, connecting and equipping regardless of age or stage of life. Gatherings generally occur monthly and require minimal planning. Currently our schedule has monthly gatherings scheduled for the 1st Saturday of the month.
- SMALL GROUPS: provide for more intimate relationships among men - where they can be encouraged and resourced to grow in their faith. While men’s groups provide fellowship, study and prayer, some may emphasize particular needs: Bible study, affinity relationships, support and accountability. Men who are trained and resourced by Good Samaritan lead our small groups. Current small groups are:
- Son Up! a bi-weekly Bible Study on the second and fourth Thursday of the month from 6:00-7:00am. For more information click on the left navigation.
- Honey doers is a service related monthly gathering for fellowship and odd-jobs around GSLC, for its members or for the community in general. For more information click on the left navigation.
