Gleaning Trip
October 21-23, 2011. We’ll learn about hunger in the USA and throughout the world. Saturday is spent gleaning at a local farm. Gleaning is an ancient Biblical practice that involves gathering crops that are left in the fields after the harvest. It is hard work and, depending on the weather, may be hot, cold or wet work. The gleaned food is distributed through food banks and agencies that serve the poor, homeless and hungry. When crops are not available, we try to serve organizations that work against poverty. Middle School and up are invited - to reserve your spot, please put a check for $75 in the offering plate marked gleaning by October 2nd. Adults - we will need chaperones, but you don't have to be one to attend. Scholarships for youth are available. Please speak with Jennifer for more information on scholarships or on the gleaning trip in general.
